I agree Mark. GPS is on the up and we are watching it very carefully. It is clear that in the near future those team distributors not using reliable GPS systems to monitor their deliveries will begin to find it an increasingly more difficult business to operate in.

Hi Chris
I agree. The industry is undermined by unsustainable low pricing. We should all work towards realistic pricing - the right price for the job we do. If £40/1000 = minimum wage which it will do for average households that is what we must charge. £50/100 for true solus is totally wrong if a proper job is being done - clients are being cheated or the purveryor of these prices is making zero profit, What is the point in that? DOOR DROP ALLIANCE (DDA) members should reject any applicants who are promoting quality leaflet distribution at these levels..

I didn't see the article myself but I know that Robert Keitch is and has been very positive towards the Door Drop council. Clearly more accurate targeting is the way forward for our industry. Hopefully this will see off some of the small time players who dont do our industry any favours. The professionals are now using sophisticated targeting methods and GPS trackers to ensure the leaflets get to the right place.

Many thanks for your question Lewy - and congratulations on being the first to add a comment to our new Blog.

These days competitive media channels are increasingly fragmented, and the best example of this is TV where the growth of accessibility to numerous commercial channels via Freeview spreads the audience to an extent that it is no longer possible for a commercial channel to deliver more than 50% of households even with its most popular programmes.

Similar changes are affecting other media. Digital radio and podcasts are dividing the audience for audio and we hear about falling circulations of both paid for and free papers on a regular basis whilst new media, like the web, now compete vigorously with traditional media, which splits the audience even more.

What has remained constant during all these changes is door drop’s ability to deliver the total market, or as many as the client / media buyer requires.

Regards

When you say "I firmly believe that a leaflet distribution is the most penetrating form of advertising out there". What other forms of advertising are you comparing that to?
